From Gonbad
When I was a child, we used to gather as a family and travel around Iran in two or more cars. My parents made these trips just like a joint project; the idea was from my mother and the accomplishment was my father’s responsibility. My father saw this as a paternal mission. He wanted his children to see different regions and ethnic groups of Iran, and of course he wanted to try the delicious food of different regions of Iran! But my mother, with her upbringing as the school principal, was determined to acquaint her children with the geography, architecture and different races of Iran.
During this joint project, I discovered that one of the unique tribes in Iran is the loving Turkmen. An ethnic group that has migrated to Iran from Asia Minor and has a world full of colors, traditions and pristine concerns that are all tied to nature. The film “From Gonbad” is the result of my work on one of the most active people in the economic and cultural fields of the Turkmen region of Iran. In this film, I accompanied him to make the audience more familiar with the life of the Iranian Turkmen people.
